Piotr “Peter” Skowronski, M.D.
Dr. Skowronski, also known as Dr. Ski moved from Poland with his parents and siblings during the country’s Solidarity Movement to Montreal, Canada with dreams of big opportunities. When his father, a Ph.D. scientist, accepted a job opportunity in Florence, SC Dr. Skowronski quickly adapted and excelled in his studies. In the last 20 years, since his family’s immigration to the U.S., Dr. Ski graduated magna cum laude from the Honors Program at the College of Charleston in Molecular Biology with a minor in Chemistry. Deeply focused on his intellectual pursuits, he received a research scholarship from the Medical University of South Carolina where he researched tissue engineering and regeneration concepts.
Following his passion for medicine, Dr. Skowronski received his doctorate degree in 2004 from the School of Medicine at the University of South Carolina. He continued his medical journey at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta where he completed his internship and residency training in General Surgery. It was a chance meeting with a French Canadian plastic surgeon that inspired Dr. Skowronski to pursue plastic and reconstructive surgery.
Dr. Skowronski headed further south for specialized training in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital and the University of Miami, Florida. His self-described “obsession to make things right” prepared him to become a surgeon trusted to complete the most difficult cases. He is passionate about breast and body contouring procedures specifically breast revision and breast reconstruction. Dr. Skowronski is dedicated to continued education and enhanced techniques. To further the complex training he received in Miami, he recently completed additional training in lower extremity reconstruction and maxillofacial surgery, to name a few. When he’s not with his patients, Dr. Ski enjoys painting, sculpting, and the occasional round of golf.
Dr. Skowronski and his wife, Liz, were married in Athens and they have recently returned here from Thomasville, GA to pursue his career. While in Thomasville, GA he participated in several rare breast and chest cancer procedures. His desire to “treat everyone as I would my own mother” has made him a patient favorite and he is excited to join Pittman Plastic Surgery.
