Labiaplasty is a cosmetic surgical procedure that’s designed to trim the length of the labia minora, to reduce irritation or discomfort, while restoring the patient’s confidence. At Pittman Plastic Surgery, board-certified plastic surgeon and Director of Feminine Health Dr. Liana M. Lugo performs labiaplasty procedures that help make women feel more confident and comfortable in their own skin.
How Does It Work?
A labiaplasty is performed with a board certified plastic surgeon. While you’re under general anesthesia, your surgeon will reduce the size of the labia minora until desired results are achieved. Your surgeon may also remove excess skin around the clitoral hood to complement your new results. The surgery is finished by using absorbable sutures to close the incisions.
Am I a Candidate for a Labiaplasty?
You’re a candidate for labiaplasty if you commonly experience irritation, rubbing, or pain as a result of longer labia minora. Most patients feel self-conscious about the appearance of their labia and want to use the surgery to achieve a more aesthetically pleasing result.
Recovery From Labiaplasty
Most patients can return to work and light activity one week following surgery but should refrain from any vigorous or sexual activity for 6 weeks. Most swelling and bruising will disappear within 2-4 weeks following surgery; patients can use ice packs to help with these symptoms.
Results From Your Labiaplasty
You’ll begin to notice results right away, although complete recovery can take up to six months.
