Candidates for A Breast Reduction
Breast reduction surgery is performed at Pittman Plastic Surgery in Athens, GA for women and men who either have troublesome health issues or lack self-confidence due to their very large, heavy breasts. There are many medical issues attributable to large breasts, including:
- Neck & back pain associated with breast weight
- Skin irritation or chafing
- Bra strap sores or indentations
- Poor, slouching posture
- Difficulty performing routine activities, such as exercise
Dr. Ed Pittman will remove excess glandular tissue, skin, and fat from your breasts for a smaller, lighter, and firmer result. He can also reduce your areola size. After your procedure, you may experience relief from health problems caused by large breasts, while experiencing a boost in your confidence and comfort with your body. Most Insurances will often cover breast reduction surgery.
Breast reduction is an out-patient procedure performed at our private, fully accredited AAAHC surgical facility, offering each patient comfort and avoiding a costly hospital visit.*Your reduction mammoplasty will be performed under general anesthesia, and this procedure typically takes Dr. Pittman two to three hours to complete.* Incisions are made around the areola, straight down to the breast crease where the incision then follows the crease beneath the breasts. Dr. Pittman removes excess tissue and skin before repositioning the nipple areolar complex to a higher location.
Recovery & Results
For several weeks after surgery, Dr. Pittman will require you to wear a sports bra and limit any strenuous upper-body activity. You will be able to go back to work after 2 weeks, but wait 2-3 weeks before any physical contact with breasts. You scars will fade over the course of several months to a year.
*The results of any procedure vary from patient to patient depending on multiple factors. There is no guarantee of satisfaction with end results. All recovery times are estimates and not guaranteed.
